Gangarams Book Bureau(GBB) established it's first stand-alone book store at Mahatma Gandhi Road in early May 1977.

Gangarams Book Bureau first move to #48 Church Street in Feb 2013.

In September 2015, Gangarams Book Bureau shifted to the 3rd floor of a brand new building #3 Church Street. It has since become a part of city's thriving culture and remains a landmark for every book lover who visits Church Street.

Present

Since 1977, Gangarams Book Bureau (GBB) has been a predecessor for all the booklovers storing ample books in a diverse range from academic, professional and technical to fiction and non-fiction. With its strong collaboration with multiple publishers and companies across the globe, the reader here never goes back empty handed.

Mr. J Nanumal was a book seller and a stationer in Mysore. His son, Mr N Gangaram, moved to Bangalore in the early sixties and continued to take over the book-selling tradition. In 1965, we started Bangalore Book Bureau, a retail bookstore in the Kapali theatre building with a store size of around 500sq ft. A few years later, in 1968, we expanded to 3000sq ft on the first floor of the same building. During that time, we were the largest bookstore in the city. We started Gangarams Book Bureau in May 1977 on the Mahatma Gandhi road.

In 2013, we relocated to Church Street, as the owner of the building on MG Road wanted to use it for himself. We are currently situated at #3 Church Street, on the Third floor, with an approximate area of 6500sq ft. We are proud to offer a wide selection of new books to our customers.

Our inventory is 40,000 titles at any given time. Our database is approx. 200,000 titles.

When I arrived, it was an absolute delight. They have a wide collection across all genres, including academic books. The staff were very polite and saved me time by locating the book for me, even offering a discount on my academic book purchases. I highly recommend visiting the store to experience their excellent service and helpful staff for yourself.

If I buy books online in Bangalore, it will only be gangarams. Now they have moved to church Street from m g road earlier. They are nice people and give some 20% discount. Staff are not very interested but overall ok . Much better than sapna book house

For those who love physical books and you are in Bangalore, this is a must visit. The size of the store has reduced substantially from what they used to be; expected, considering their sales being eaten away by online options. Personally, I loved seeing and walking through the rows of books there.
