Based on his extensive study of England, the most advanced industrial society of his time, Marx examines the nature of commodities, wages, and the relationship between work and capital. Of the three volumes, only the first was published by Marx himself; his collaborator and friend, Friedrich Engels, prepared the remaining two from Marx’s notes.
