About the Book: Why feminism and not masculinism? Women in the Womb of Time begins with the search for this answer and, by extension, embarks upon a passionate exploration of ancient Indian literature, including the Vedas, epics, Arthashastra, Kamasutra, Smritis, Dharmashastras, in order to liberate Indian feminism from the ‘white mans’s burden’ and to ressurect, reclaim, and revive feminist voices silenced by time and history- not to heroize or sentimentalize them, but to spin them into the larger historical imagination. This journey to light up ancient Indian feminism is not so much about looking back as it is about revamping our present and realizing a more equitable future.
